A volunteer’s social evening took place on Friday November
11th in the Heritage Centre, and this was coupled with the
presentation of a CPRW (Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales) 2016 Rural
Wales Award which we were very honoured to receive after only being operational
since mid May this year.
Guests included Peter Seamon (Chairman of the B&R Branch of CPRW) and
his wife Margaret, Pip Tappin who nominated us for the award, and Richard
Suggett of the Royal Commission on Ancient & Historic Monuments who made
the presentation of the plaque. We were also pleased to have in our midst the
Mayor of Llanwrtyd Peter James MBE, and
County Councillor Colonel Tim Van-Rees.
The evening was well attended although some volunteers were
unfortunately unable to join us. There were various short speeches, and a thank
you to all our volunteers for their tireless efforts on behalf of the organisation.
Some of our volunteers have been with us for the last five or more years. We are
always looking for new volunteers to join our group to help out with various
tasks (stewarding, oral history recording, digitising and computer input,
updating of the website and Facebook page, translating, admin etc), and if you
or anyone you know is interested in finding out more (with absolutely no
obligation) please make contact with us on 01591 610067 or at [email protected] or [email protected].
